1964 Corvair Monza Convertible "Fun to drive!" We think you'll agree. Our seller tells us that this great looking Monza convertible has only been owned by two long-term owners before he purchased it. The second owner told him the low mileage was original, however, he can't guarantee it. It runs and drives excellent which makes enjoying the "top-down" summer cruise nights a fun and memorable experience. The paint was done over 5 years ago and it still presents as a "casual show" and nice driver. The interior is very original with the original factory seat covers still in place and in remarkably nice condition (note the minor section of "piping" on the driver's seat). Mechanically, it starts right up and drives so well you'll think it's 1964 again! Our seller shares that it has a minor oil leak that he is willing to compensate for in the selling price. He has a 4-speed transmission that he is including with the purchase to replace the current 3 speed if you decide to. The top is manual, easy to operate and in excellent condition. Please see this one in person, our seller is reasonable and you'll drive home in it! There is a lot of Corvair information and support to be found on the Net, below, we've included a few brief comments: The Monza convertible option was the sportiest of all the four original Corvair models. In 1964 it carried a $2,492 factory price which included a 164 cubic-inch engine capable of producing 110 horsepower. Later Corvairs, with their improved rear suspensions, offered engaging driving dynamics. The improved handling made Corvairs fun cars in the corners. The air-cooled, aluminum flat sixes were versatile engines. There was plenty to like about the Corvair. Its styling was crisp and clean with a sporting flair that couldn't be seen on other American compacts. The forward slanting nose with its four small headlights and absence of a grille looked distinctive and fresh. The car's lines were taut and athletic, a welcome step away from the American excess of just a few years prior. Call us for more details or come see it at our Detroit location!
